Pow Wow Pitch Partners with Kamloopa Pow Wow

Indigenous entrepreneurs, pre-register now to pitch in Kamloops on July 29th and 30th, 2022

Today, Pow Wow Pitch, North America’s premier pitch competition for emerging Indigenous entrepreneurs, presented with RBC, Shopify, Meta and Mastercard, announced its new partnership with the Kamloopa Pow Wow to put the spotlight on Indigenous entrepreneurs.

The 41st annual Kamloopa Pow Wow takes place in Kamloops, British Columbia, from July 29-30, 2022. Kamloopa showcases First Nations communities and cultures from across North America through the celebration of song, dance, and artistry.

For the first time, Kamloopa Pow Wow is hosting Pow Wow Pitch to come to put the spotlight on Indigenous vendors, entrepreneurs, artists, entertainers, filmmakers, and innovators attending Kamloopa. Vendors and attendees will have the opportunity to pitch to win a total of $10,000 in cash prizes to take their ideas and businesses to the next level.

To enter, vendors and entrepreneurs can pre-register to pitch, with a few spots reserved on a lottery for those who just turn up and want to pitch.

Entrepreneurs will share their business pitch in 1-minute to a panel of judges, who will then select the Top 10. The Top 10 pitchers will be paired with mentors before pitching in front of the judges and the Kamloopa community. Prizes include $5,000 for 1st Place, $2,500 for 2nd Place, $1,000 for 3rd Place, $500 for the Youth Prize and $500 for the Fan Favourite. In addition, the 1st Place Winner will get Golden Ticket to the Turtle Island Finale to pitch for the Grand Prize of $25,000!

“We are honoured, grateful and excited to bring Pow Wow Pitch to the Kamloopa Pow Wow to join together with the community to celebrate and showcase Indigenous entrepreneurs,” said Sunshine Tenasco, Founder of Pow Wow Pitch. “Entrepreneurship is an important tool for reclamation, and through sharing our stories, ideas, and businesses, we can grow the Indigenous economy together.”

“The returning of Kamloopa is a time to come together, continue our healing journey and celebrate the strength of our community,” said Delyla Daniels, Director of Kamloopa. “Bringing Pow Wow Pitch to our event will help us showcase and support our wonderful vendors and emerging Indigenous entrepreneurs and show them that our community is cheering them on.”

All pitchers will access a free Indigenous Startup Program and get more than $1,000 worth of free technology, tools and support.
