Nadia “Bogs” Bogayevsky, Founder and CEO of Good Native Plants and a proud member of Elsipogtog First Nation, is bringing native plants and their stories back to the land. Based in Balmoral, New Brunswick, her work combines traditional Indigenous knowledge with western ecology to create ethical, regionally appropriate seed collections that restore ecosystems, support pollinators, and revive cultural teachings. Alongside selling seeds, she leads workshops on native-plant-based wildlife conservation, helping people understand the deep ties between Mi’kmaq language, culture, and the plants that have shaped them for generations.
Leanne Jones, Owner of Leanne Digital Design, and a proud member of Peguis First Nation, is making waves in the branding and web design world by combining artistry with authentic storytelling. Based in Winnipeg, her studio specializes in creating strategic, visually impactful websites and graphic designs that help businesses truly connect with their audiences. With over a decade of experience, Leanne’s approach goes beyond aesthetics. She builds brands that honour values and inspire trust, especially within Indigenous communities.
“Everything is a teaching,” said Eva, “Each step along the way with our longhouse has been a lesson, and each time we rebuild, the longhouse becomes stronger, and so does the community building it. It has been healing.”
On Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, Pow Wow Pitch, North America’s premier pitch competition for Indigenous entrepreneurs, presented in partnership with RBC, Shopify, and Mastercard, announced Puna Tripp, the Kanaka Maoli Founder of Hā Tonics, from Kailua, as the first-ever 2023 Mana Up Pow Wow Pitch Winner. The Native Hawaiian-owned business has won 5,000 USD and is advancing to the 2024 Pow Wow Pitch Finals for a chance to win $25,000.
