Destiny Maluga brings community-centered storytelling to Indigenous entrepreneurship

Pow Wow Pitch, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering Indigenous entrepreneurs, is proud to welcome Destiny Maluga as the newest member of our team. A proud Ojibwe from Waywayseecappo First Nation in Manitoba, Destiny joins Pow Wow Pitch as Communications Coordinator, bringing a thoughtful and creative approach to storytelling that will help strengthen and amplify the organization’s platform and impact.

Destiny’s work is rooted in community, storytelling, and purpose-driven communication, shaped by her academic background in Political Science with a focus on Indigenous resurgence and economic reconciliation. This foundation shapes her approaches to advocacy and storytelling, ensuring Indigenous voices are centered with care and intention. Beyond her professional experience, Destiny brings a deep sense of creativity and compassion into everything she does, whether she is creating art and jewelry that reflect her First Nation and Ukrainian-Romanian roots, or opening her home to foster animals alongside her family and beloved dog.

“Storytelling is such an important part of who we are as Indigenous people, and I’m honoured to support entrepreneurs as they share their journeys through Pow Wow Pitch” said Destiny Maluga, Communications Coordinator of Pow Wow Pitch. “I’m excited to help celebrate the creativity, the leadership, and the incredible work that is being done in a way that reflects who we are and where we come from.”

As Communications Coordinator, Destiny will help carry forward the stories of Pow Wow Pitch entrepreneurs, uplifting their journeys, creativity, and resilience through storytelling that honours the strength of Indigenous entrepreneurship.

“We are excited to welcome Destiny to the Pow Wow Pitch team,” said Naomi Sarazin, Executive Director of Pow Wow Pitch. “Destiny brings a deep respect for community, culture, and story, along with a creative spirit that reflects the heart of Indigenous peoples and communities. Her approach to storytelling is grounded, thoughtful, and values-driven, and we are excited for how she will help carry forward the voices of our entrepreneurs in a good way. As we begin the 2026 Pow Wow Pitch year, we are grateful to have Destiny on our team, miigwech Destiny for contributing your gifts to our Pow Wow Pitch journey.”
